#IstanbulAttack: Capetonian describes horror scenes at Atatürk airport

Judy Favish was preparing to board a flight back to the Mother City when the two explosions hit Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the death toll from the suicide bomb and gun attack has risen to 36, with 147 others wounded.

She recalls how the shooting began just as she had checked in at the airport's departure lounge.

I got my boarding pass and was about to put my suitcase on the conveyor belt, and then the shooting started.

Judy says she hid under a counter, while others ran in different directions, and the attackers opened fire for at least 10 minutes.

According to Judy, this was followed by two bomb blasts.

Some smoke was going up in a lift near me, it was unbelievably scary.
