#AntiRacismSong 'the first of many' artistic interventions to build cohesion

Amid controversial race rows, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, has launched an anti-racism song titled No love, No life as a part of a 6-track album.

The song features various artist, including Mzwakhe Mbuli, Thokozani Langa, Zain Bhikha, Mbongeni Ngema and David Jenkins.

The department says it's working on several other creative initiatives to campaign against racism, including poetry anthology, fine art exhibitions and other art forms.

We're looking at many other ways to put the message across.

Dr Abraham Siroti, Director of Social Cohesion at the Arts and Culture Dept

The department's Dr Abraham Siroti explains that the song is not a single solution to the fight against racism, but part of a broader call to action.

We are under no illusion that the song alone will be a panacea to all the problems we are facing relating to the scourge of racism... It's a step in the right direction.

Dr Abraham Siroti, Director of Social Cohesion at the Arts and Culture Dept

Siroti says that the song is a challenge to the public, and artists in particular, to take action against racism and push a nation-building agenda.
