Ear,Nose and Throat Dr Yahya Atiya says hearing loss is becoming eminent among young people due to headphone use.

“Now with technology, because it is becoming more ubiquitous, we see more and more hearing loss in younger people and more worryingly in children. Ideally you should keep your earphones to a as low level as you can, if the person next to you can hear your music and you can hear it, your music is too loud.”

Talking to Sizwe Dhlomo on Night Talk, Atiya continues to give a more detailed and scientific explanation on why it is dangerous to expose your ears to very loud sound.

Atiya also suggests some of the best ways to remove ear wax.
