Another Sodwana Bay Lodge 'doing damage control' over mistaken identity

When South Africans hear the name 'Sodwana Bay' its probably associated with the racial storm that erupted there this week.

A guest house owner in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Andre Slade, stirred controversy with his refusal to accommodate black patrons with his assertion that black people were created to serve whites.

While Slade faces charges of illegal operation and crimen injuria, another guest lodge with the same name (only a 10 kilometers away) has had to rescue its chain of resorts from reputational damage.

We distance ourselves 100% from the conduct. We can't understand how anyone in this business can have an attitude like that.

Managing director of First Resorts, Johann Jordaan says that management has had to reassure members of the community that their establishment is not the one making headlines for racial controversy.

The community were immediately up in arms and ready to burn down our place.

They have reached out to several media organisations to publicly distance themselves from the storm.
