Black twitter publishes Maimane's cell number, lamenting DA's 'intrusive' calls

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, was a trending topic on Sunday evening after his personal cell number was published.

In protest against the unsolicited elections-related phone calls and text messages from South Africa's official opposition party, #BlackTwitter called for everyone to bombard Maimane with calls and texts. Personal cell numbers of various leaders (Gavin Davis, John Steenhuisen, Phumzile van Damme and James Selfe) were also made public.

In response, the DA asked people to send them an email to be removed from the database. They then drew the Twitterati's attention to service delivery shortfalls under the ANC (African National Congress) leadership with #WhileYouComplainAboutAnSMS, which was also not well received.
