Team SA counting on swimming, athletics and rowing to bring home the gold in Rio

The 2016 Summer Olympics are only a month away and the South African team hopes to bag at least 10 medals from the games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) believes swimming, athletics and rowing are the best bet for the team to draw big achievements.

Sascoc manager Leon Fleisher says the team is counting on swimmer Chad le Clos to bring home a few medals, in addition to Caster Semenya and coach Roger Barrow's rowing squad.

According to Fleisher, Sascoc has rigorously tested the top athletes for drug use, amid a doping scandal involving Russian athletes.

The first 24 athletes to represent South Africa have been announced and the rest of the team will be revealed on 14 July 2016.
