Listeners can tune in to new voices on 702

702 and CapeTalk’s Redi Tlhabi goes on maternity leave from the end of July and the stations have announced that her show will be steered by Eusebius McKaiser until she returns in mid-January 2017.

Eusebius is no stranger to 702 and CapeTalk as a former host of Talk@Nine and regular stand-in for Redi. A political and social analyst, philosopher, lecturer, author, columnist and radio host, Eusebius thrives on the debate and discussion that is presented by the 09h00 – 12h00 slot on 702 and CapeTalk.

Eusebius will host the show from Monday to Thursday and the Friday Stand-In will continue with a different, prominent person hosting the Friday edition of the show each week.

Eusebius is a charismatic host, and we look forward to the conversations that will be had on the platform while he is in the presenter’s seat

Thabisile Mbete, 702 Station Manager

We wish Redi everything of the best with the birth of her new baby and know that she will listening, and will probably join the conversation on Twitter from time to time.

702 has also announced changes to certain features on the station. The daily Africa Report on John Robbie’s breakfast show is now hosted by Crystal Orderson, a well-respected journalist with extensive experience covering the continent. She takes over from long time contributor, JJ Cornish.

The format of the weekly Book Show from 11h00 to 12h00 on Thursdays will be changing at the end of July. Jenny Crwys-Williams, one of the most prominent figures in South Africa’s literary landscape, will no longer be hosting the show.

Listeners with a passion for reading, books and literature can be assured that the slot will remain a space dedicated to books. Eusebius and Redi are both authors and have profound connections to, opinions about and appreciation for books and literature.

We say goodbye to Jenny with a heavy heart as she has been such a bold presence on 702 for so many years

Thabisile Mbete, 702 Station Manager

We will be playing with the format of the show to ensure that it is interactive, engaging, intellectual and showcases the ever evolving literary landscape.
