An apparent shooting has broken out outside the Ankara courts in Turkey, as at least 27 senior military officials face trial for the failed military coup last week.
EWN's Middle East Correspondent, Paula Slier, reports that generals and admirals are in the court house, with a strong police and military presence outside.
Slier says that it appears a man has been shot.
The former head of Turkey's Air Force, General Akin Öztürk, has been named as the mastermind behind the coup.
So far, 8 777 officials have been removed from their post within police and security forces.
In addition, at least another 3 000 soldiers have been detained.
President Tayyip Erdogan has suggested that death penalty be re-instated to deal with such rebellion.
She reports that there has been a crackdown on descent, and any support for the attempted coup on Friday.
