Conflicting statements from the ANC on Fransman's reappointment

The African National Congress says the party's suspended Western Cape chairperson, Marius Fransman is not back in his position.

This is in contradiction with what ANC NEC member and head of elections and campaigns, Nomvula Mokonyane, said yesterday.

Fransman was seen campaigning for the party alongside with President Jacob Zuma in Khayelitsha.

Mokonyane said Fransman is back in his position and 'the issue has been resolved'.

EWN reporter, Rahima Essop, explains what might have caused the confusion regarding Fransman reappointment.

He [Fransman] said he was there to support the party’s mayoral candidate. But it later emerged that members of the Provincial Executive Committee who were there yesterday, had been told that Fransman was back in his position.

Rahima Essop, EWN reporter

These things appear to happen in the ANC, the big questions is why. Is it the case of the left hand not knowing what the right had is doing, or is it the case of the ANC pulling in different directions.
