Petrol price drops 99c on Wednesday

Some good news to brighten up your weekend!

The price of petrol will fall by 99 cents, while diesel will go down by 74 cents per litre, the department said in a statement.

Department of Energy's Robert Maake says, “Paraffin, at retail price, will drop by 88 cent per litre and LP gas will drop by R1.60 per kilogram.”

He says the strengthening rand has also helped.

“The reason for the decrease is the strengthening of the rand against the dollar during the period under review, which contributed about 24 to 26 cents to this price.”

Robert Maake, Department of Energy
