Maimane and Jordaan cast their votes in hotly contested metros

DA leader Mmusi Maimane has cast his vote at his alma mater, Allen Glen High School in Randburg, Gauteng.

EWN's Gia Nicolaides reports that the DA's Joburg mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba joined Maimane in the long queue with other voters.

Meanwhile, ANC mayoral candidate Danny Jordaan has made his mark at a voting station in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape.

EWN's Xolani Koyana reports that residents have come out in their numbers to cast their votes, despite the cold and overcast weather conditions.

As South Africans take to the election polls, it's reported that voting in Stellenbosch, Western Cape was ground to a halt earlier.

IEC officials apparently presented Cederberg ward ballots to residents at a voting station in Stellenbosch.

Meanwhile, voting in Kensington got off to a smooth start where more locals braved the cold weather.

EWN's Lauren Isaacs reports that doors opened shortly after 7am for voters who had been patiently waiting to cast their vote.

Most people say they are asking for change. They want an improvement of service delivery and policing in the area.
