‘We don’t need the EFF,’ says DA Nelson Mandela Bay mayoral candidate

The Democratic Alliance in the Nelson Mandela Bay is celebrating after winning the metro from the ANC. The DA won the council by 46.71 percent, followed by the ANC at 40.92 percent, and EFF at 5.12 percent.

DA mayoral candidate in the metro, Atholl Trollip, admits that the DA has approached UDM President Bantu Holomisa to consider a coalition, in addition to other parties such as Cope, AIC, ACDP.

The DA needs four more councils to get the majority in the metro.

I’m sure we can find some coalition partners who will buy in to our manifesto and we will get to the business of governing.

We don't need the EFF, there are seven other independent or small parties.

All we need is four seats. And we will find the parties and individuals that are happy to implement with our manifestos and that will abide by the prescript of the Constitution.
