The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has begun the process of interviewing short-listed candidates who hope to get onto the bench in a court of law.
The JSC is conducting the hearing to fill a number of vacancies in the various superior courts including the Constitutional Court.
Three hopefuls gunning for a High Court appointment in Kwa-Zulu Natal were grilled on Monday morning.
Four candidates will be interviewed for a vacancy at the Constitutional Court on Tuesday.
The JSC is a body of 23 people including lawyers, judges, professionals and politicians - counting member EFF leader Julius Malema.
Civil society group Judges Matter says Malema has shown his unique interrogation skills.
He knows that some of the skeletons are buried and he can start a line of questioning about a candidate that go bad or not go anywhere at all.
