Holomisa: ANC must accept its fate in Nelson Mandela Bay, as new Mayor sworn in

The DA's Athol Trollip has been elected unopposed Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay and UDM's Mongameli Bobani will be his deputy in the metro.

The DA won the most votes in the hotly-contested metro and announced a coalition partnership with smaller parties including Cope, ACDP and UDM.

ANC members allegedly disrupted the tense council meeting where councillors were being elected, and new speaker was also installed.

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa says the ruling party will continue to grapple with the changing political landscape, but should accept it sooner rather than later.

These people have been in power for some time. And it's not going to be easy for them to give power to other parties.
