Public Protector ad hoc committee shortlists five candidates

Five people have been shortlisted by the ad hoc committee tasked with finding the new Public Protector:

Judge Sharise Weiner Judge Siraj Desai Busisiwe Mkhwebane Muvhango Lukhaimane Professor Bongani Majola

Out of the 14 Public Protector candidates interviewed last week, five names were put forward this afternoon.

Judge Desai's name has been contested by the Democratic Alliance, and the Economic Freedom Fighters raised questions.

The new public protector is likely to be announced next week Wednesday.
