ANCYL looking for energetic young leaders

ANC Youth League (ANCYL) spokesperson Mondli Mkhize says that the ANC needs to have an elective conference urgently so younger leadership can be elected and have time to prepare for the 2019 national elections.

Mkhize also says that younger leadership needs to be elected to the ANC's National Executive Committee (NEC) to monitor implementation and to address issues which have seen the party lose key votes in the recent municipal elections.

On Thursday, the ANCYL held a media briefing, calling for the ANC to restructure its NEC, the decision-making organ of the party.

Speaking to #NightTalk's Gugs Mhlungu and Sizwe Dhlomo, Mkhize says that an ANC elective conference in December 2017 would be too late for the party, and needs to happen without delay.

Listen to the conversation below:

Any further delays (to an early ANC elective conference) is going to prove to be problematic... We must have a younger generation of leaders

Mlondi Mkhize, ANCYL spokesperson

We are concerned that there is a need for new younger leadership. We can't ignore the sign that says act

Mlondi Mkhize, ANCYL spokesperson

The ANC is talking. but government is not implementing. We need an office that will monitor implementation

Mlondi Mkhize, ANCYL spokesperson
