2016 National Lead SA and Youth Hero's announced

The National Lead SA Hero and Youth Hero for 2016 were announced at the LeadSA Changemakers Conference which took place over the weekend.

National Adult Hero

Hip hop activist Emile Jansen was named the National Lead SA Hero for his contribution to developing youth artists and effecting positive change on the Cape Flats through his initiative Heal The Hood.

National Youth Hero

Franck Leya was named the National Youth Hero for inspiring Joburg's inner city school children from disadvantaged backgrounds through his youth activation project titled A Dollar And A Dream.

Advocate Thuli Madonsela blew the audience away with her keynote address at the the conference, explains Lead SA co-ordinator Dianne McAlpine.

Just weeks before the end of her term as Public Protector, Madonsela spoke about leadership and active citizenship made inspiring examples of those who have contributed to social change.

McAlpine describes Madonsela as a graceful speaker and a definite highlight of the empowering event.

Madonsela was also honoured with the 2016 Lead SA Leadership Award for her brave work while in office.
