A drink that has for more than three centuries been regarded as one of the finest of all spirits, is none other than Cognac.
Pippa Hudson had the pleasure of sipping on one of the most famous and finest, Louis Treize Remy Martin XIII Cognac.
Sommelier Jorg Pfutzner joined Pippa with one of their finest bottles.
Two CapeTalk listeners Ilze and Gareth had the enviable job of being tasters in studio as well.
Pfutzner explained that Cognac is the name for a brandy from a particular region of France. The grapes are harvested and turned into wine, then distilled into eau de vie, the 'water of life' a clear spirit , and with maturation in a barrel it turns into brandy.
