Dumisa Ntsebeza explains what the country should do during trying times

Even though President Jacob Zuma has pledged full support and confidence in Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan some people still believe the behind the Hawks investigation.

But some South Africans, and some members of the African National Congress (ANC) and South African Communist Party (SACP) are of the view that the Hawks investigation is part of the conspiracy to fire Gordhan and capture the National Treasury Department.

One of the 13 commissioners to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), Dumisa Ntsebeza, says the power for change still lies to ordinary people.

The message to the people of South Africa is that it is ordinary people, not those who controlled power, that made it possible to change a structure in society that was in control, to replace it with the one that the people wanted.

Former deputy Sars Commissioner Ivan Pillay and the former head of a specialist unit Johan van Loggerenberg, who were also summoned with Gordhan attended the meeting at the Hawks headquarters in Tshwane.
