Jumpstart provides jobs in software engineering

If you are a CEO and want to get on board the EOH 702 Job Challenge, go to 702.co.za and the EOH team will help you get started.

Stephen Mahony, CEO Jumpco Software, has joined the EOH 702 job initiative challenge. It is a professional services company in software engineering.

It offers digital education products and integration solutions for large corporations.

Jumpstart is taking up the challenge.

Mahony says the company has been running an internship and learnership programme since 2002, and says the EOH 702 challenge will help broaden the initiative and partner with others.

"The more people you put into your labs, the more you have to actually invest in the young people." - Stephen Mahony, CEO Jumpco Software

The company has worked with the Setas in the past and it does work, he says.

"Turning an engine takes a bit of effort, but it's worth it as you see the jobs created over the years." - Stephen Mahony, CEO Jumpco Software

He says they only had a 30% success rate in the first few years, but persevered and now it's reached 80 - 90%.

The interns get permanent employment at Jumpstart but also in other industry partners and their clients even provide the interns with jobs.

He says the new recruits see other interns leading by example, and it inspires them.

The initiative is aimed at providing young people with work experience that will make them employable.
