Political and economic legacy of H.F. Verwoerd, 50 years after his assassination

Verwoerd believed the state should use the economy for political ends.

Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd (born on 8 September 1901) was a right wing authoritarian leader and is regarded as the mastermind behind apartheid.

He survived an assassination attempt in 1960, but was eventually assassinated on 6 September 1966.
