Outa's crowdfunding scheme offers legal defence for e-toll dodgers

The battle between pressure group the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) and roads agency Sanral continues.

Sanral has called into question the legality of Outa's latest recruitment drive in which members make a financial contribution and receive legal defence in cases relating to e-toll summonses.

This is nothing more than a crowd-funded approach for the public to be able to defend themselves.

Wayne Duvenhage, Chairperson of OUTA

Once individuals pledge to become contributing members of the "Defence Umbrella", Outa vows to provide legal support for e-toll defaulters who have received summonses.

Outa's Wayne Duvenhage explains that the group will so far represent 152 members who are part of 6 000 to receive Sanral summonses.

According to Duvenhage, Sanral has agreed to a single test case in court instead of taking 152 individual cases.
