President Jacob Zuma has paid back the amount of R7 814 155.00 used for non-security upgrades to his Nkandla home as ordered by the Constitutional Court earlier this year.
The Presidency has released a statement saying the President has complied with the Constitutional Court order.
The President raised the amount through a home loan obtained from VBS Mutual Bank on its standard terms, one of the few financial institutions which offer home loans in respect of land owned by traditional authorities.— The Presidency statement
According to reports, National Treasury has also confirmed that the amount has been received.
Constitutional Court found that the president failed to uphold, defend and respect the Constitution by not complying with the recommendations of the Public Protector.
