At Wits university, students who want the academic programme to continue have clashed with the #FeesMustFall protesters, though they say they do support the underlying goals of fees must fall.
EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela says students going under the banner 'Take Back Wits' gathered outside the great hall in a silent protest saying they want their voice to be heard.
As they were embarking on their silent protest, demanding classes to resume, they were met by an opposing group. Manyathela says there were confrontations that let to the Take Back Wits protesters abandoning the march.
Manyathela says the majority of the students who are part of TakeBackWits are white, though the first group that they clashed with on the way to the great hall was also white.
There's been heavy police presence at Wits but towards midday the police were moved outside the campus, which is were they are currently stationed.
