It all depends on what you want to do, the upper tier is geared towards the international tourist. But if you are a local you can make a National Park trip affordable.

As there are no special rates for locals it’s all about researching the more affordable options. SANparks offers accommodation from bungalows to campsites but you do need to book well in advance. Remember you don’t have to go 5-star to see the Big 5, in the end that’s what you’re there for.
