Former SABC board member Krish Naidoo says he felt Parliament was an appropriate place to make an important statement.
While the SABC appeared before the Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications to give an account on Hlaudi Motsoeneng's appointment as head of corporate affairs, two members of the board resigned- Vusi Mavuso and Krish Naidoo.
Parliament is there exercising an oversight responsibility over institutions like the SABC and i felt it was just appropriate to make that statement.— Krish Naidoo, board member at the SABC
I decided long time ago to resign and when Motsoeneng's issue came to head it made it untenable to remain as a board member.— Krish Naidoo, board member at the SABC
Naidoo says for the last two years there's been a gradual erosion of governance at the SABC. He says he attempted to correct where he could but was often voted down by the majority of the members.
He says the time had come to take a stand because the issue of Motsoeneng was now entering the realm of illegality.
When corporate governance falls apart, criminality enters the realm.— Krish Naidoo, board member at the SABC
