John Maytham has been barging in France

John Maytham loves the finer things in life, so he really couldn't say no to the opportunity to go barging in France on the popular Canal du Midi route. He joins a media contingent barging with Le Boat, an operator represented here in South Africa.

"You sample the regionally famous cassoulet, a delicious slow-cooked bean and meat casserole, in Castelnaudary, and then it’s off on your Canal du Midi cruise to the Mediterranean Sea! As you go, the slow pace of travel imparts a magical spirit, taking you into the warm embrace of scenic France. Beaches and warm breezes beckon as your boat hire on the Canal du Midi unfolds."

John has been posting on the Cape Talk Facebook page throughout the trip to give his listeners an idea of the range of experiences this type of holiday offers. Below is a very small selection of his posts as an illustration.
