Christopher Venter is set to become the first blind speaker to present TEDx Talk South Africa. He will be giving a talk at an event that will be held at Ratanga Junction on October 15.
Speaking to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies, Venter says he has been blind for two years and he is teaching other blind people on how to make use of different technological devices more easily.
Venter lost his sight two years ago after tackling a grueling trip on a Vespa scooter across Africa. During his trip, he fell ill and was forced to return home. He was soon back on the road after recovering and completed his trip. But he fell ill again upon his return which resulted in him losing his sight.
Venter says the theme for 2016 TEDx Cape Town 'fear to hear and listen' was a fitting topic for him.
