WoW promotes healthier living in the Western Cape

WesternCape on Wellness (WoW!) is a healthy lifestyle initiative initiated by the Western Cape Department of Health and others to promote a culture of well being.

It promotes healthy lifestyles that will help in the prevention, reduction and better self-management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) that are a major and growing public health problem in the Western Cape.

"This is all about a healthy lifestyle and living a comfortable and a happy life says Frederik Maree, WoW! Project manager.

This is just to get all of us to work together and help each other to live a healthier life and develop a culture of wellness in the Western Cape.

Frederik Maree, WoW Project manager

The programme is being rolled out in public spaces, workplaces and schools across the Western Cape by WoW champions. These are volunteers who have been trained to champion these initiatives in different settings.

The programme is suitable for everyone, pregnant women as well as the elderly.

Its all about fun. We've done Zumba, Tae Bo, Tai Chi, aerobics, we give people different activities to enjoy...
