#FridayStandIn Rich Mkhondo drops knowledge and moving music

Writer and media relations expert Rich Mkhondo took the reins as the Friday Stand-In presenter.

Mkhondo kicked off the show with a dynamic open line discussion covering the week's news diary.

Listeners called in to comment on matters including #sciencemustfall, the death of Khwezi, Pravin Gordhan's summons and Thuli Madonsela's end of term.

Mkhondo also punctuated the show with some music to inspire CapeTalk and 702 audiences, playing Baz Luhrmann 's "Everybody's Free To Wear Sunscreen".

Mkhondo then spoke with clinical psychologist Nomfundo Mogapi who, considering the current state of affairs in the country, says South Africa needs a TRC of the soul.

Mogapi insists introspection is a crucial tool for all sectors of society as we continue to grapple with current and past trauma.

We are a society that is still dealing with high levels of unresolved historical trauma, both at an individual and collective level.

According to Mogapi, the TRC did not accurately deal with the wounds of the past in sufficient depth and breadth.

Ours is a society of wounded leaders who get triggered by the wounds of the past.
