Phosa wants probe against NPA and Abrahams

ANC stalwart Mathews Phosa, says he is not surprised that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has offered his moral and political support to Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.

He says he wrote a letter to the Presidency, Minister of Justice and the speakers of Parliament asking them to launch an investigation into the NPA.

The NPA cannot be a lap dog of the Presidency as is currently the case.

Mathews Phosa, ANC Stalwart

It is important that the NPA head is appointed by Parliament and not by the President so that there is a bit of independence there.

Mathews Phosa, ANC Stalwart

South Africa should be vigilant of people who want to pervert the system and corrupt it and I want to say it very clearly, the NPA will go the same way as the Scorpions.

Mathews Phosa, ANC Stalwart

Phosa says he will be writing a letter on Monday to the General Council of the Bar to investigate National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shaun Abrahams, like they did with Nomgcobo Jiba.

He says the fraud charges against Pravin Gordhan should be withdrawn as quickly as possible and allow him to run his portfolio without interference.
