R600 million alleged offer to Mcebisi Jonas fuels state capture claims

A Sunday Times has made startling revelations, which have fuelled state capture allegations by the notorious Gupta family.

In the report published on Sunday, Deputy Minister Mcebisi Jonas was allegedly offered R600 million payment in exchange for being friendlier to the Guptas during a meeting in October where he was also offered former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene's position before he was fired in December.

Of course these allegations are much more serious, much more damning and should have much more serious implications.

702's John Robbie spoke to Sunday Times senior journalist Sabelo Skiti, who divulged how the information came to him.

He said that the new information is not necessarily new to the public, however, the affidavit contained more detailed information on other events which have taken place over the years.

Listen to the interview below:

We must stress that what is contained in the affidavit is actually what we have been told by a number of sources.
