South Africa doesn't need nuclear power- energy expert

University of Cape Town's Prof. Anton Eberhard says any decision by Eskom to build nuclear power stations would be irrational because the price of renewable energy has become inexpensive.

The latest update through the Integrated Resource Plan by the Department of Energy shows that South Africa does not need to order what he terms 'big chunks of power'.

In fact if nuclear power would be needed at all, it would only needed in the late 2030s.
