Mkize the creator of uncommon art

Loyiso Mkize is the founder of Loyiso Mkize Art, a visual arts and communication company. He hails from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape. At just 27 years old he has established himself as an artist of note, finding an audience for his work not only in South Africa but also in the UK and USA.

He has illustrated the popular SuperStrikas comic books. His company publishes KWEZI, the energetic South African superhero comic book which is described as being set on a contemporary South African backdrop where 19-year old Kwezi discovers that he has superpowers, and so begins his journey to discover his purpose.

When he is not illustrating he paints, using oil paint on canvass. He paints portraits reflecting the African culture.

In 2009 Mkize did a diploma in graphic design at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

He says his parents played a huge role in his career by encouraging his talent and investing in his education.

My parents thought wow we struck gold with this kid. They invested the best information on me, exposed me to a lot of stuff as a young kid throughout my schooling career. They were really supportive in that regard
