#FeesMustFall protests to occupy Parliament amid mini budget speech

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is due to deliver his medium term budget speech in Parliament on Wednesday.

The #FeesMustFall supporters are planning to disrupt the budget speech and demand a response to their call for free tertiary education. Students from UWC and UCT are gathered outside parliament waiting for the procession to begin.

Xolani Koyana, EWN reporter says leader of the Democratic Alliance, Mmusi Maimane, is currently addressing the students saying government must ensure universities stay open for those students who wish to continue with their studies.

Maimane stated that those continuing with the burning of universities should be arrested.

This would not be the first time students have taken their protests to Parliament demanding to be heard. During Nhlanhla Nene's tenure as finance Minister students also took to parliament to disrupt his budget speech.
