Rondebosch Common fire suspected as arson

Independent forensic investigator David Klatzow, who was at the scene of the Rondebosch Common fire, says there are suggestions that the fire was deliberate.

On Sunday 29 March a fire broke out under mysterious circumstances at Rondebosch Common. This is the second fire in the Common in the past two weeks. The fire was contained but Klatzow says that there are concerns about how it started.

There is nothing there that could cause an ignition source other than human agency; deliberate and or accidental. It’s really concerning that two fires have broken out in such a short order.

Klatzow says that residents near the Common should keep their eyes open for any strange activity around the area.

He asks for any witnesses to contact him on 021 685 5747 if they have any additional information to report for the investigation.
