BREAKING: NPA drops fraud charges against Gordhan

The National Prosecuting Authory (NPA) has dropped fraud charges against Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, along with Oupa Magashula and Ivan Pillay.

The announcement was made in a letter addressed to Gordhan's lawyers while the national director of public prosecutions (NDPP), Shaun Abrahams held a press briefing today regarding the matter.

The NPA laid a charge of fraud against Gordhan in relation to approving an early retirement payment to former SARS (South African Revenue Services) deputy commissioner, Ivan Pillay.

Former SARS Commissioner, Oupa Magashula, and Pillay made their representations to Abrahams requesting a review.

He acknowledged media reports quoting that Gordhan had no faith on being treated fairly, saying he found his stance concerning as they remained unfounded.
