6 reasons why #DMYourCrushDay is a trap

Today Twitter users have been encouraged to take a leap of faith and confess 'undying love' to their crushes via direct message (DM).

#DMYourCrushDay has been trending and it's said many have used the campaign to stop lurking online and climb out of the 'friendzone'.

While sliding into the DMs may work successfully for some, it could also go wrong for a number of reasons.

Here some examples:

  • screenshots are real

There's a strong chance that the receiver of your affectionate text will screengrab your text for the world to see, assuming the feeling isn't reciprocated.

-a big huge block

It's possible that you could get blocked or unfollowed by said crush. Or they could have customised DM settings.

  • also, food can't text back

some of us aren't interested in people.

  • and on the off chance that you're not in love with food, the person could make things rather awkward...
  • they could already have a significant other
  • the stinging burn of rejection may last for longer than just today
