Themba Maseko supports recommended judicial inquiry into state capture

Former government spokesperson Themba Maseko, says he's relieved and elated that the state capture report has finally been released to the public.

I hoped that the Public Protector recommends a judicial commission of inquiry. That's were I think it should be going.

Themba Maseko, former cabinet spokesperson

Maseko was one of the people who made a written submission to ANC about the Guptas.

He says he supports the report's recommendation that President Jacob Zuma appoint a judicial commission of inquiry into state capture within 30 days.

There must be judicial commission of inquiry. Details must be unveiled and those who have breach the Constitution must face the full might of the law.

The Public Protector report states that the proposed commission must be headed by a judge solely selected by the Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.

Maseko says that inquiries take to long in South Africa and says that the processes and time frames need to be improved.

He had anticipated that the legal battle would drag on and make its way to the Constitutional Court.
