SA based African American poet says racism in US will now rear its head

In one of the most fierce American elections in history, Donald Trump was victorious over contender Hillary Clinton.

Myesha Jenkins, African-American poet and writer living in South Africa says she is shocked that Trump is now the president.

It feels like we've been living in smoke and mirrors about what America is.

I think the Donald Trump forces were not happy by being governed by a black president.

Jenkins says Donald Trump candidacy emboldened racism and this could be a start of violence against black people, Asians, Native Americans and the LGBT community.

She says everything that America had been able to achieve during Barack Obama's tenure will be overturned.

We will definitely see more attacks on immigrants.

If Hillary Clinton was a man she would've probably won the elections, she says.
