Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the preliminary results have revealed that 'jelly sweets' given to children by an unknown man contained drugs.
Yesterday about 60 children from three primary schools in south of Johannesburg were rushed to hospital after eating sweets handed out by a stranger.
If children take those particular sweet, they end-up with serious stomach cramps.— Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC
Panyaza has urged schools to be alert and make sure that children don't accept anything from strangers.
Police have launched a massive manhunt for the suspect.
Lesufi says learners are being interviewed to help provide any information to the police.
