Largest moon in 68 years lights up the sky tonight

If the weather is okay. When the sun is setting, if you are in Joburg about 6:30, if you are in Cape Town at about 7:30, go out and look to the East. And look at the full moon rising.

The spectacular big moon, supermoon, will light up the sky tonight, confirms astronomer, Dr. Claire Flanagan.

The moon will still be in its normal size, but will appear 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than usual.

If you really want to check the supermoon, a couple of hours later, maybe like 9-10 o'clock tonight, go out and look at the full moon when it is high up. You might notice, if you look carefully, that it is higher than normal.
