Auditor General speaks out about irregular government expenditure

The Auditor General released his report yesterday revealing that provincial and national government departments have racked in R46 billion in irregular expenditure.

702's John Robbie spoke to Auditor General of South Africa, Kimi Makwetu, to discuss the performance outcomes of the 2015/16 financial year.

He said that supply chain management remains a challenge, which has seen substantial growth as officials' non-compliance with the checks and balances in accordance to legislation.

If you look at the extent of expenditure described earlier, it points to quite a lot of activity in the area of supply chain which is subject for abuse.
