ANC's problems cannot be solved in a single encounter with ANC 101 - analyst

Political Analyst Ralph Mathekga says there have been high expectations from the ANC 101 meeting with the National Working committee of the ANC.

He says the expectation that one meeting would send a serious message to President Zuma will not be achieved.

That the meeting took place is a positive step, and there is a promise of another one. But he says it will be problematic if the veterans push to get rid of the President.

Mathekga says it would be difficult to resolve all the problems that have been sitting with the ANC for so long in a single encounter.

If they continue meeting constantly and talk about some of the broader issues, they should avoid confining the meeting to a single issue.

If they focus too much on trying to resolve this current stalemate within a short space of time that will encourage people to move towards some form of compromise.

A positive take out is that this meeting finally happened and perhaps in the next sitting there would be deeper engagements to discuss a way forward, says Mathekga.
