Abusers, rapists face little or no consequences - Tears Foundation

Violence against women and children continues to plague communities across the country, with little hope for resolve.

Ahead of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign, Tears Foundation has called for action to ensure convictions for perpetrators who mete out this type of violence and ensure victims' safety.

The foundation consists of a network of funders who assist survivors of rape and abuse to a path of recovery.

702's Stephen Grootes (standing-in for John Robbie) spoke to founder of Tears Foundation, Mara Glennie, regarding the status of women and children.

We have the best laws in the world but the worst enforcement thereof... Rape and abuse does not have a champion in South Africa.

Mara Glennie, Tears Foundation founder

The campaign commenced on 25th November 2017 and will end on 10th December 2016.
