Most scratches and dents to your car happen in parking lots

Most scratches to vehicles happen at shopping mall parking areas because they are usually squeezed to accommodate more cars. But what do you do when you find your car scratched and the culprit has driven off?

Philippa Wild, head of technical marketing at Vitality Drive - Discovery Insurance says it is important to be covered for days such as those.

She says it is important to read and understand the terms and conditions of your insurance, so you'll know what is covered and which is not.

Andrew Bulman, transportation engineer at Urban EQ Consulting Engineers says there are set guidelines for dimensions used when designing car parking lots.

Because of the level of scratches and dents that occur in car parks, the city has become more strict in ensuring that the set dimensions are adhered to.
