Mogoeng urges legal professionals to crack the whip on transformation

Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has made a call to the entire legal profession to take responsibility for transformation.

Mogoeng was speaking after a meeting with the heads of court, justice and correctional service portfolio. He pointed to many black councils and senior judges who in their careers were never briefed by white clients.

Lutendo Sigogo, president of the Black Lawyers Association, says transformation in the legal profession is not moving at the right pace and there is still a lot to be done in terms of empowering black legal practitioners.

I think the main problem here is the issue of trust not believing that a black person can do it.

Lutendo Sigogo, President Black Lawyers Association

If this mindset is not changed we not going anywhere in this country.
