South African Communist Party (SACP) says it is important that the African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) has discussed the motion of no-confidence in President Jacob Zuma.
SACP second deputy general secretary, Solly Mapaila, says members who have aired their views on Zuma's leadership and called on him to step down should not be isolated and targeted.
The President will now know that there are these kind of views inside his own collective.— Solly Mapaila, SACP second deputy general secretary
Going forward, we hope this kind of posture will be sustained in order to grow the movement and unite it.— Solly Mapaila, SACP second deputy general secretary
Today the ANC said it has decided not to support the call for Zuma to step down following its extended NEC meeting.
