Commission on Gender Equality (CGE) is discussing safety and transformation at South African universities with Vice Chancellors.
The Commission has recommended that the University currently known as Rhodes incorporates gender transformation studies across all its courses.
According to Ziyanda Ngcobo the Commission has criticised Rhodes University for under-representing black women in its academic staff.
Dr. Sizwe Mabizela has come under fire for the policy that the university has in place for reporting sexual offences, and under-reporting.— Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter
CGE has investigated and interrogated the legalities of the policies, and is now allowing VCs to make representations on current processes. They are also being questioned on why certain policy recommendations have not yet been implemented.
