#WhatInTheWorldHappenedTo... Mayo?

Some preferred the Green one, with a bit of a lemon/creme soda taste to it, and some went for the banana yellow whereas many, mostly females, preferred the pink one! This was the legacy of the Mayo drinking yogurt! a huge favorite in many townships especially in the summer days. The best way to have a Mayo has always been in frozen state, with a spoon or just toying with it in your mouth.

Mayo used to come in a clear cup-like container, then new varieties came in a small plastic bag and the latest ones, with even a wider variety of flavors come in more decorated and colourful containers. Whatever your memory of Mayo is, you can't mistake its legendary legacy and clearly, the longevity. Xolani Gwala spoke to Thomas Morf, marketing director at Danone, about this legacy. apparently Mayo was started by a coupe from Ireland, drove into Soweto and they sold their first week's worth of stock in one day and they were sure they had a winner.

Here's the beautiful story of how Mayo started and when it was sold to Danone.
